Nors Davidson

San Francisco DUI Defense attorney Nors Davidson and his sister were born on February 3, 1974 in Clarkston, Washington. Mr. Davidson was raised in Ketchum, Idaho ( where he attended Wood River High School and graduated in 1992.

Mr.Davidson initially attended the University of Oregon in 1993, but was forced to leave school due to financial hardship. Returning to Sun Valley, Mr. Davidson developed a reputation for hard work suceeding in the restaurant industry as a waiter, host, bartender and cook. A receipiet of the Friedman Memoral Academic Scholarship, Mr. Davidson returned to college at the University of Idaho (, and graduated with honors receiving his Bachelor of the Arts Degree in history with a minor in classical studies in 1997.

Aftter growing up and completing college in Idaho, Mr. Davidson longed for greater career challenges and enrolled in the University of San Francisco School of Law ( in 1997. During law school, Mr. Davidson distinguishined himself as a criminal defense attorney and trial advocate. In 1998, Mr. Davidson completed the University of San Francisco Criminal Investigations Clinic under Professor Robert Talbot. As a student investigator, Mr. Davidson developed strong in the field investigation skills working directly with and conducting felony investigations for then San Francisco Deputy Public Defender Marc Iverson. In 1999, Mr. Davidson completed the University of San Francisco Criminal Law Clinic ( As a student attorney working under the supervision of defense attorne Julie Traun, Mr. Davidson represented his first clients as referrals from the San Francisco Public Defender's Office. Noteably, Mr. Davidson was able to negotiate a dismissal with the District Attorney in his very first criminal defense case as a law student. In both 1998 and 1999, Mr. Davidson competed in the law schools' Advocate of the Year Competition, ( and was an undefeated finalist in 1999.

From the beginning, Mr. Davidson knew that to be a successfull San Francisco DUI attorney, he would need to build strong local contacts at the Hall of Justice located at 850 Bryant Street in San Francisco. In 1999, he served as law clerk for then chief of the homicide division of the San Francisco District Attorney's Office ( It was at this time that Mr. Davidson believed that he could do more good helping individuals than prosecuting and punishing people on behalf of the State.

Mr. Davidson graduated from law school in May of 2000. Although Mr. Davidson initially returned to the Wood River Valley after graduation, he returned to the Bay Area and worked for financial reasons in the big firm world of civil litigation. Unhappy with sitting in a desk all day, Mr. Davidson took his first criminal case to jury trial in San Francisco and obtained a "Not Guilty" verdict in a serious gun brandishing case. From that point, his passion for criminal defense advocacy was born.

From 2004 to 2005, Mr. Davidson joined the San Francisco Public Defender's Office ( as a volunteer misdemeanor attorney. During this time, Mr. Davidson "ran a calendar" in Department 16 of the Hall of Justice, trying and settling litterall hundreds of criminal defense matters and developing a reputation with both the courts and prosecutors as a passionate defender of his client's rights and liberties. Mr. Davidson was subsequently presented with a "Certificate of Appreciation" from then San Francisco Public Defender Jeff Adachi in 2005.

In 2005, Mr. Davidson accepted a position with the DUI defense firm "The Law Office of Robert Tayac". From 2005 to 2010, Mr. Davidson was responsible for nearly 1000 Bay Area DUI cases allowing him to develop strong contacts with all Bay Area courts, prosecutors and especially Department of Motor Vehicles Hearing Officers ( Mr. Davidson obtained numerous dismissals, reductions, trial victories and DMV suspension "set asides" during this time and established himself as one of the Bay Area's most successful DUI and DMV attorneys. In addition to his employment as managing associate with The Law Office of Robert Tayac, Mr. Davidson personally handled approximately 150 DUI cases on behalf of the state-wide DUI defense firm of The Law Offices of Lawrence Taylor, Inc. and assisted attorney Robert Tayac in the preparation of the 4th Edition of California Drunk Driving Defense by West Publishing.

In 2010, Mr. Davidson became disillusioned by the "DUI Firm" mentality that was pervasive in larger DUI Defense offices. In his opinion, "Firms" or "Teams of Lawyers" really meant code language for "someone else will be handling your case." Case in point: A former client of mine had been represented in a Marin County Case by a "state wide DUI defense firm. This firm was located in Southern California and had no Bay Area office. Needless to say, the firm appeared for the client at his all important DMV hearing over the telephone, without him present, only made two objections and refused to ask the arresting officer even one question on cross examination. The hearing lasted no longer than ten minutes and the client was charged $4,000 for the work. His license, by the way, was suspended the day following the hearing. I later substituted in as counsel for this client and took his case to jury trial and he was promptly acquitted of all charges. If only he had hired me, local counsel, for his DMV case, perhaps his license could have been saved.

Another DUI Defense Firm ploy is the double marketing of lawyers. If you conduct some research into the attorney you're considering, you'll find some attorneys with their own websites and also appearing on the websites of other "firms." This is done as a MARKETING TOOL. What this really means is that when you hire the same attorney through the "firm" website, you're actually paying a premimum so the attorney can split the fees with the firm, typically 50/50. In the end, the issue is that DUI defense has become an industry with often the sole focus being getting you to pay $5,000 to $6,000 in attorney fees. Once you've paid, then you're just another number.

I believe the best RESULTS are obtained when one skilled attorney handles ALL ASPECTS of your case and provides PERSONALIZED representation. I won't lie, I not a public defender anymore. I don't believe, however, that you need to be taken advantage of during what is most likely one of the greatest challeges and fears of your life. I dedicate myself to all of my client's cases and therefore do not accept every case. I love my job and it shows in my results and client reviews
